UAE Government Leaders Programme launches ‘UAE Youth’ Category

UAE Government Leaders Programme launches ‘UAE Youth’ Category

The UAE Government Leaders Programme, UAEGLP, has launched a new category 'UAE Youth' Programme, in collaboration with the Emirates Youth Council, to empower and prepare competent young nationals to lead the country’s future across all strategic sectors. The new category is the fourth to be added to the wider UAE Government Leaders Programme, which also includes the Strategic Leaders Programme, Executive Leaders Programme, and Future Leaders Programme. The UAEGLP has trained top-tier leaders and decision makers across several government authorities and departments in the country. The new programme, nonetheless, specifically targets the youth segment and is set to be implemented over a period of eight months. "The UAE Youth programme reflects the government’s awareness of the role young people can play in the development projects and the future industry," asserted Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office. "It is an extension and an upgrade of our efforts to empower and equip our national workforce, all the while honing and directing their skills towards government work." The Minister explained that the new programme echoes the directives of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and his faith in the youth as the UAE’s primary asset. His Highness had called for training young Emiratis and investing in their talents and potential to fuel the UAE’s progress and its successful sustainable development campaign. "The programme heeds Sheikh Mohammed’s call to spread happiness and positivity throughout UAE society," she added. The UAE Youth Programme has been developed along six themes: values and ethics, happiness and positivity, creative leadership, science and technology, development projects, and the ideal leader of the 21st century. The themes were inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision, which he narrated in his book: Reflections on Happiness and Positivity. The ‘leader of the 21st century’ theme, in particular, was inspired by the leadership traits of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid himself, who has always prioritised national talents, calling for training and empowering them to cater to the needs of the Government of the Future. Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Chairwoman of Emirates Youth Council, said that the UAEGLP introduced this new category to its portfolio to adequately and fully prepare the country’s future leaders. "This makes the UAE Youth Programme the only government programme dedicated to training young nationals in leadership disciplines," Al Mazrui noted. "The Emirates Youth Council is happy to be collaborating with the UAE Government Leaders Programme to train a generation of qualified young leaders who can deal with the challenges of the future and carry out the UAE Government’s campaign for holistic sustainable development."
